Can not add files on rtorrent client

i click the globe and select where i want the file to go to, then add the url (iptorrents/torrentleech) and every time i get this message "[file name] Failed to add torrent. cant retrieve url." in a red box in the bottom right of my screen. i have tried googling/looking here and the only thing ive gained is a headache. sorry if this is a noob question. all help is appreciated. Thanks!

also i use the url of the download for the torrent, not the website url if it wassnt clear
