Dashboard says I'm using more storage than I am?

Posted April 5th, 2020    781   1   measurement metering incorrect

Using WinSCP for SFTP transfers from my seedbox, I've noticed the site is saying I'm using more storage than I am. This is a screenshot of the entire files directory filesize. The other folder I have access to (torrents_blackhole) is 0 bytes large.

However, this is what Seedboxes.cc says I am using. There's a difference of 45.41 GB between what I'm actually using and what the site thinks I'm using. It's getting pretty annoying because an accurate measurement would reduce the amount of micromanagement of files I need to do. Any suggestions?

Hello!
WinScp and other ftp/sftp clients measure disks in 1024 powers, meaning 1TB = 1024GB = 1048576MB = 1.099511628×10¹² B.
We measure the disk space like disk manufacturers do (industry standard for hard disk sizes) in powers of 1000, meaning 1TB = 1000GB = 1000000MB = 1000000000000B.
In other words, we calculate in Gigabytes, the ftp clients calculate in Gibibytes (and they should really use GiB instead of GB to avoid confusion).

In your example, the "651,361,332,761 B" you see at the parenthesis, right next to 606GB, are ~651GB in powers of 1000 (and ~606GB in powers of 1024).
