Google Drive Encryption

Posted March 7th, 2020    1217   2   Google Drive encryption

I have manually copied content from my SB files over to my encrypted Google Drive. Now that content cannot be accessed on Google Drive anywhere else? Is this by design?

Hello!
Yes indeed, this means that encryption is working perfectly.
Neither Google nor any other 3rd party can access your files, they will just see random characters in the folder / file names, with the files having data encryption too (given that you chose the recommended settings when you created the crypt).

The only way for someone (or even you, e.g. locally from your PC) to access your files is to give them your whole rclone configuration, meaning a) your Google drive credentials (Google client id/secret/token) and b) the remote mount on that Google drive with all encryption settings (encryption options + password + salt).

P.S. This is the reason you have to keep backups at least for the password/salt, if you lose those, you won't be able to recover your files

When integrating your plex server with your Google drive, we essentially create a mount point for your encrypted Google drive folder so Plex is able to access your decrypted files

Hey thanks for your response WHat I am still confused over is that even if I set it up correctly while setting up my seedbox with Plex integration, My SB Plex client can only see my previous data and not the encrypted stuff moved from seedbox downloads files to Google Drive

The plex library paths are set to see both your local Plex folder and your (encrypted or not) Google plex folder.
Make sure at the library paths, you only use "/home/gdrive-plex/" path.

If however something is amiss, could you please open a support ticket from your client area so our technicians can assist you further?
